What is Psychiatric Nursing? (Psych Nursing)

Psychiatric nurses care for a wide variety is psychiatric and behavioral issues. They can work on an inpatient basis with conditions such as schizophrenia, or outpatient such as substance abuse clinics.

Psychiatric nurses play a large role in assessing patients, planning patient care, implementing patient care and evaluating the outcomes of the desired care plans.

Psychiatric Travel Nursing Jobs Outlook:

Many inpatient psychiatric units have recently suffered from funding cutbacks. This has led to a downsizing of needs for psychiatric nurses on a national level. This does not mean that there are no travel psychiatric nursing positions. It does mean that facilities can be very picky on the psychiatric nurses they choose. At this time, a minimum of five years recent psychiatric inpatient experience is recommended in order to be submitted to a psychiatric position. It is a guarantee that one position will receive dozens of applicants. The more experience the nurses resume reflects, the more likely it is the nurse will be picked for the assignment.
