Progressive Care Travel Nursing Jobs
What is Progressive Care Nursing?
The progressive care nursing categorization can vary widely from facility to facility. Generally speaking, in most hospitals this is intermediate unit between an ICU and a Medical Surgical/Telemetry floor. Another term used to describe this type of floor is "step-down".
In facilities where progressive care is a unit that is one step below an ICU, nurses can see ventilators, IV med drips that can require titration, and cardiac monitoring. Other facilities will call a standard telemetry floor a "progressive care" unit. In these facilities there will be no ventilators or IV med titrations. It is very important that any nurse thinking about working in a progressive care unit clearly understand the types of patients they will see at the facility they are considering.
